Homage to my Mother

Mother's Days have come and gone, and for some reason, this year, I am filled with sadness over the absence of mine.  My mom died almost 24 years ago at the age of 73 - far too young and vibrant!  She didn't live to see me experience success as an artist.  In fact, she didn't live to even KNOW I would become a fiber artist!  I think she would have been very proud!

But, alas, I am saddened by the fact that I didn't support her in her artwork in the way that I would today.  I was young; I was not part of any art community or culture at the time and never thought I would be; I feel I failed her as a daughter in that respect.  But I honor her with the artwork I have displayed all throughout my home.  And while I pass by it every day and don't even see it, today I'm going to give you all a tour to see some of her work....in oil, acrylic, watercolor, Chinese Brush, cement, pen & ink, and more!  Enjoy!

How wonderful that you have such a collection of her artwork. She gets to live with her daughter everyday, just as you get to live with her every day, through the soul of her paintings and other artwork. Happy Mother's Day!

Louise,

Happy Mother's Day! Your Homage to your mother was wonderful. What a prolific artist she was. Wouldn't she be so happy to know that her creativity lives on through you!

Thank you, Rachel and William, for your lovely comments. I do feel blessed to have so much of her work and to know that she was the source of inspiration for my subsequent creativity.

Fantastic to have your mothers work surrounding you what a great inspiration she must have been to you. I know today you had your surgery and wishing you a speedy recovery. Your mother would be so proud of you.
