NUNO Felted Flower Pins/Brooches

When my interest in nuno felting began, I knew I would love it! I also knew that I'd stick to my desire to make accessories rather than larger garments. The process is inordinately labor-intensive and time-consuming, but it is a process that intrigues and surprises every step of the way. I LOVED my private lesson with Jean Gauger. You can see her record of our day together at this link, and you can appreciate her work at her sugarplumoriginals Etsy shop.

I've been thinking since my class about what I can DO with nuno felting, and finally came up with the idea to use the samples from my class with Jean to make felted flowers pins. So far, I have created two such pins and I must say I am VERY pleased with the results. Those who have seen them have been extremely positive about them and very curious about the process. I found myself rather incredulous too as I explained making the fabric from scratch with the resulting flowers looking like these.

I welcome feedback on these first two! Additional photos available on flickr in the Nuno Felt set.
