How I FELT!!!!

I DID IT!!! I actually made nuno felt on Friday! ALL day! Lots of elbow grease! Lots of mess! Lots of wet towels and other things all over my kitchen! Lots of worrying! Did I do it right? Did I do it long enough? Did I use the right materials? the right soap? the right temperature of the water? Could I really do this by myself - without the help of Jean Gauger of Sugar Plum Originals who gave me my first and ONLY class so far! Thank you SO much, Jean! Go see her work - it is absolutely stunning!

I needed her advice! I needed her patience! I needed her encouragement! I needed her timing! ACK!!!! I didn't think I could do this at all! Well.....guess what? I did it! I actually succeeded in making 6 pieces of very interesting nuno felt after all that labor and all that time. I even made a flower pin/brooch from one of the samples, and I'm pretty happy with it. With all of it, as a matter of fact! But you be the judge! The felt is folded and wired, then adorned with beads and a feather. It is now listed in my Etsy shop.

All the felt samples can be seen on flickr but here is a mosaic of them. The nuno flower is composed of the two samples on the bottom lower right corner.
