The Challenging Year of the Gs

It wasn't enough that my husband was in and out of the hospital for the first 3 months of the year with critical heart issues. Just as we were resuming some semblance of life in retirement, his sister passed away after a year of battling lung cancer. We've just returned from 11 days in FL to be with her at the end, plan her funeral, and dispose of most of her home. Life changing activities - to say the least. I cannot imagine more this year than we've already had.

BUT....on the other hand we have much for which to be grateful! Although I have found it difficult to pursue my art work during these events (and there is some pressure to produce when you are part of a gallery!), Tony has found it impossible. It is good to be home to try to pick up the remnants of our lives.

His sister was an artist too, so we are blessed with some of her work, and we were able to donate many of her supplies to a local school for the developmentally disabled. And she was a GOLFER!!! Her golfing buddies gave her a proper send-off, including a "21-ball Salute" and a caravan of family and friends to the 14th hole (where she had had a hole-in-one) to hit a ball for her and to scatter her ashes. She would have loved it!

So these works of mine that I managed to complete or start while away are dedicated to Mary Ann!

Oh, my, what emotional times you have had this year. Hoping that you are doing all right.
